Trivia[]

AC[]

  • pop'n music 6 is the first pop'n music installment to have:
    • Expert Mode and Battle Mode.
    • A playable Challenge Mode on 5-Line.
    • HI-SPEED 3 and 4 are now available for the first time.
    • Anime/TV licenses.
    • Likely every song to have a NORMAL and HYPER notechart.
    • Visual banners; they were noticeably taller than later games in the series. As of the following installment and onwards, the banners were shrunken in size to look similar in shape and size to those of fellow BEMANI series DanceDanceRevolution.
  • ALPHA made their first appearance in the pop'n music series.
  • This title marks the first appearance of beatmania sound director Takehiko Fujii, as well GUITARFREAKS/drummania main musicians Hideyuki Ono and Jimmy Weckl in the series.
  • Hideo Suwa made his first appearance in the pop'n music series.
    • Long-time pop'n music staff member Tomoyuki Uchida writes music for the series for the first time.
  • This is the first time that Hiroshi Takeyasu didn't compose a song for the series.
  • Challenge Mode is more streamlined, allowing you to use two different challenges per song. This set-up is still used to this day.
  • Instead of dividing songs into stages, the official pop'n music 6 website divides songs into four levels with labeled words.

CS[]

  • pop'n music 6 is the final pop'n title to be released in the PlayStation. PlayStation 2 had been out for 2 years by this time, and though pop'n music kept its popularity, it is thought up that consumers disliked the short songlist on the PlayStation's limited capacity CDs. Konami responded with the longest songlist of any PlayStation pop'n title, at the expense of graphics.
    • It's the final BEMANI game released on the PlayStation in Japan.
  • 翔べ!ガンダム and 太陽にほえろのテーマ do not appear in pop'n 6 CS, as they were preview songs in pop'n music 5 CS. Other licensed songs from pop'n music 6 didn't appear, but later made it in latter CS games. pop'n music 7 CS and pop'n music Best Hits!.
  • Battle Mode and RGB Mode are not present, unlike in the AC version.
  • pop'n music 6 is the final PlayStation game to contain 7 Button charts. pop'n music portable and its sequel would later carry this mode.
  • All of the songs from pop'n stage and its ex variant are all playable. Original pop'n stage song full moon is the only one that did not make it to console, alongside pop'n 3 tunes, LET ME FEEL SO HIGH, Bit of Love, and un-Balance.
  • The KEY DISC can be used to play APPEND DISCs from pop'n music 3 and 4.
